چکیده

In this paper, by using an analogy among quantum mechanics, electromagnetic beam optics in optical fibers, and charge particle beam dynamics, we introduce the concept of coherent states for charged particle beams in the framework of the Thermal Wave Model (TWM). We give a physical meaning of the Gaussian-like coherent structures of charged particle distribution that are both naturally and artificially produced in an accelerating machine in terms of the concept of coherent states widely used in quantum mechanics and in quantum optics. According to TWM, this can be done by using a Schrödinger-like equation for a complex function, the so-called beam wave function (BWF), whose squared modulus is proportional to the transverse beam density profile, where Planck’s constant and the time are replaced by the transverse beam emittance and by the propagation coordinate, respectively. The evolution of the particle beam, whose initial BWF is assumed to be the simplest coherent state (ground-like state) associated with the beam, in an infinite 1-D quadrupole-like device with small sextupole and octupole aberrations, is analitically and numerically investigated.

Unitary transformation for the system of a particle in a linear potential

– A unitary operator which relates the system of a particle in a linear potential with time-dependent parameters to that of a free particle, has been given. This operator, closely related to the one which is responsible for the existence of coherent states for a harmonic oscillator, is used to find a general wave packet described by an Airy function. The kernel (propagator) and a complete set o...

Improved nanofluid cooling of cylindrical lithium ion battery pack in charge/discharge operation using wavy/stair channels and copper sheath

Abstract: In order to improve the thermal management system for cooling an electric vehicle battery pack, the thermal performance of the battery pack in two states of charge and discharge in different working conditions by using a copper sheath around the batteries and a copper sheath, as well as a stair channel on top of the battery pack and using of nanofluid as cooling fluid, has been studie...

Thermal Buckling of Functionally Graded Beams

In this article, thermal stability of beams made of functionally graded material (FGM) is considered. The derivations of equations are based on the one-dimensional theory of elasticity. The material properties vary continuously through the thickness direction. Tanigawa's model for the variation of Poisson's ratio, the modulus of shear stress, and the coefcient of thermal expansion is considered...

High-frequency modulation of continuous-wave laser beams by maximally coherent molecules

We suggest a technique where a molecular Raman transition is prepared near a maximally coherent state with continuous-wave CW laser beams. The key idea is to put the molecules inside a high-finesse cavity and to drive the molecular transition with two lasers whose frequency difference is slightly detuned from the Raman resonance. In this regime, the molecules become very efficient CW modulators...

In this study a Modified Compressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (MCSPH) method is introduced which is applicable in problems involve shock wave structures and elastic-plastic deformations of solids. As a matter of fact, algorithm of the method is based on an approach which descritizes the momentum equation into three parts and solves each part separately and calculates their effects on th...
